Create a Better Search Experience
Dynamic Map's built-in text search scans a single CMS field by default. For large maps or locations with multiple names, ZIP codes, and neighbourhood references, a dedicated Smart Search field dramatically improves search result quality — without any custom code.
Step 1: Create a Smart Search Field in Webflow CMS
In your CMS collection settings, add a new Plain Text field and name it Smart Search.

Step 2: Add Keywords to Each CMS Item
For each collection item, fill in the Smart Search field with all the terms a user might type to find that location – including alternate spellings, ZIP codes, neighbourhood names, or local landmarks.

💡 Pro Tip: Use an AI tool like ChatGPT to generate keyword lists quickly – paste in the item's name and details and ask for search-relevant synonyms and variants.
⚠️ Important: Every CMS item must have the Smart Search field filled in. Leaving even one item empty will break the search for the entire map.
Step 3: Set Smart Search as the Search Field in Dynamic Map
In Dynamic Map App, go to Filter and Sorting, enable Item Search, and set the Search Field dropdown to your new Smart Search field. Press Save.

Your map now searches the full keyword list for each item, significantly improving result accuracy — especially for large collections with varied naming conventions.
